i found this vlog on accident, it is the best thing i've seen on the internets in a while. it is how i imagine a cute segment on the daily show to be. all your dreams are dead. watch it and you'll get it. also on the site right now is a thing about pandas. hello!? pandas is awesome.

i've come to the conclusion that i don't post because i don't like to use the computer at home. it's in a room where the chair is uncomfortable and i end up with a stupid backache (and also the tv is not viewable from here and hello, what are you thinking of this season's lost??!?) and so i thought maybe i'd post at work, but then the cutlery, which was easy peasy two weeks ago, has been ridiculous busy lately (i guess that would be the pre-xmas halloween maddash that all retail companies do from now until january). so yah, long story short i should buy a laptop or at least a good chair.

also i've been out quite a bit, karaoke with a live band, grant birthday party, tasty food at eos with carolyn and jalice, badly drawn boy, lunch with nick, cutlery sample sale, great finds at the design warehouse...

but anyways, i just had to share two things with you.

1- Robots can now cook chinese food - it is science and therefore you can't question it.

2- A wedding dress made of cream puffs - i would probably eat it and be half naked halfway down the aisle

this morning, while i was waiting for my files to pack their bags and move over to the servers, i killed the time by stumbling across the internets.

eventually i landed on his great cd for kids. it's got songs by Belle & Sebastian, Four Tet, Franz, Jonathan Richman (with a slightly depressing song about an old dog) and more. and bonus proceeds to go the save the children charity.

juju found a clip of the hot rain scene and we are going gaga.
it's all about that look when they want to kiss but don't.
if i didn't have just a little bit of pride and wasn't so prejudiced, i might actually type a "*swoon*" and man, i don't even really like period dramas.

yesterday bao sent me a link to this game called notpron. it's this myst like game where you have to get thru all the levels. the point is to look at the picture figure out the clue get the password and move on.

i really didn't need something to waste time, but now i'm hooked.

if you check it out you should be sure to start "view> source" when you're stuck. also the address bar is a good place to look. and google.

anyway. i'm only on level 10, i have a bajillion more levels to go.
only 70 of 5.5+ million have solved it and i want to be 71.

this wednesday (oct. 5) is "Dine For America" day. a bunch of restaurants nationwide are donating profits (or partial profits, or just some money) to the red cross for hurricane katrita relief.

i heard about it a while ago and kept meaning to look up more info. thanks to camille for sending the link i was too lazy to find. you can use it to find a participating restaurant near you.

I was listening to forum on the way in to work today. It was the author of a book called "Results: Find out how to keep what's good,
fix what's wrong, and unlock great performance." Pretty much it's a personality test and answers for companies and organizations.

Being part of what I would consider a failing organization, I had to take the quiz.

the dears have a new video for 22: death of all the romance. the animation is a little jerky in places, but it's cute/bittersweet (just the reason why i heart the dears). also, from what i understand they couldn't get funding or label help and nearly ran out of time. i don't quite get the live band clips and think it's a little jarring with the aesthetic. but it's definitely worth watching and not nearly as dopey as their last two videos.

okay i have a secret/not-so-secret love for the amazing race. i am always so envious of those people racing around the world. well looks like i could give it a try myself. they've got open casting calls this weekend in san jose. and not just anywhere in san jose. about 5 miles from our house san jose.

should we give it a go?

scottel sent me this video link today. it's I Cetra performing the lambretta twist. i've been talking about getting a scooter for like 10 years now. maybe i should actually do it. i probably missed the hipster boat, but they still look so fun, and who am i to turn down fun. maybe if my house and work were nearby so that i could just put-put on over. then maybe i'd do it...

so bao took that picture. it's pretty impressive. i can hardly believe it's not been photoshopped. so yah, bao's got an impressive photo and it's great but also sort of sad to me. he's total fading me in the art front. i've gotten too lazy these days. i need to fight for my title. but until then, check out a close up of bao's photo. and while you're there vote for him. if he wins he gets his own camera and then he can take more of these photos and then there will be a bao v. pocketpig fight battle. and you want to see that, right? so go and VOTE FOR BAO by April 20. update: bao won and got himself a fancy new digital camera. yeah bao.

on saturday juju called to say, "OMG!!! i am watching the arrested development dvd and randall's SWEATER IS ON IT!" (okay so i'm paraphrasing a bit, but that's essentially what she said). we heart arrested development. but, there are still a few episodes in the first season that i haven't seen. including the episode entitled "the best man for the gob" and this is where his sweater was seen. after i got off the phone with juju i had to call samshrew and let her know. she thinks arrested development is AH fantastic and she totally jocks the sweater too. a few hours later she emailed us a link to a screenshot. and holy cow, wouldn't you know. it IS the same sweater. here is a photo of gob in the GLORIOUS sweater. it's a beauty, isn't it? sidenote: if you're not watching arrested development, you really should.

i saw this linked off of slashdot today. edible paper sushi! and food made with lasers? potential inside out bread? *sigh* lucky for randall i'm a girl of my word. else i'd run away to chicago and stalk mr. cantu. he's obviously a genius. wah! i heard about the new interpol video for evil a week or so ago, but kept forgetting to check it out. and on my seu jorge search i stumbled across a reference to the new interpol video and said, "oh yah, let's check it out shall we?"
my god it's bad.
and i like interpol.
a lot.
it's just so ridiculously hokey.
and i know it's just a music video budget and that a lot of good people probably worked really hard on it. but really. it doesn't seem very interpol-ish at all. my theory is that they just didn't want to take time away from their neverending 4 year tour (which, by the way, they are touring again).
that or someone said, "hey i know this artist guy charlie white! he does work with these creepy puppets." to which someone else said, "sure why not, then we won't have to do anything."
charlie white may be an interesting photographer with a schtick, but this video just doesn't work well. c'est la vie i suppose. i didn't like it.

in order to cleanse the pallete, i had to watch a few other videos.

check out the new roots manuva collosal insight". not an amazing video, but i always like his style. strange that he has a puppet too...

also it's a hit from rilo kiley. fun animation. can't go wrong with light bright. perhaps you could even pretend it's a puppet...

oh while we were at toys r us, i saw the weirdest tagline in a barbie myscene doll. it said, "so much for bbq, hello tv dinners" and he even came with tv dinners. can anyone explain?? he's going "out with the girls" and all he can offer is tv dinners???

sometimes it hits me.
i shouldn't hate my job as much as i think i do.
today i'm happily pushing pixels around
and listening to this american life.
that's really not so bad.
