Pocky cheesecake

when i was at the sf market the other day i bought cheesecake flavored pocky. seems like there are millions of pocky flavors these days. let's break this one down.

i started off by quickly eating an entire stick. just bit down and chomp chomp chomp ate the whole thing. it was buttery, the coating was plasticy/waxy (like all pocky), it had a slight tang to it, but i don't know if i would call it cheesecake.

i had a couple of broken ones (broken right where the coating and the stick meet, seems like they always break right there). so i used those to isolate the stick flavor. the stick was like a butter/cream cracker. lightly sweet, but barely. sort of buttery, but not overwhelming. definitely more cream cracker than wheaty.

next i put a small piece of the coated part into my mouth and sort of scraped the coating off, twirling it around my tongue to really grasp the flavor. i did this with about 4 full sticks. and sadly, i couldn't really figure out the flavor. it definitely had a sweet cream taste with a tangy bite and i guess that could be called "cheesecake" flavor, but it didn't really taste like cheesecake. it reminded me more of pudding. sidenote: i ended up eating the sticks that were hanging out in my mouth after each round of scraping, they were sort of soggy by then which reminded me of those crackers you give babies.

lastly i took a few sticks and slowly ate them together. i think i'm going to have to say these easily could be packaged as lemon pudding pocky. okay maybe it'd need a little more lemon to it to make it really lemon pudding flavor, but i think i just helped them invent new pocky flavors. just add any fruit extract to this cheesecake base and viola you've got new flavors. (they should pay me for that thought by the way.)

overview.
pocky cheesecake is a pretty decent sweet treat.
would i eat it again? yes.
will i purposely go out and buy it? nah.
does it taste like cheesecake? not really.
does it beat out chocolate pocky? no way.
rating? i'd say a solid 7 out 10. but mostly because it is creamy sweet coated snack stick and in my book, you can't really go wrong with that snack stick thing.

oh and yes, i ate the whole package in one sitting.
i blame that on the indecipherable cheesecake taste.
