Forgotten ingredients

June 14, 2005 - 08:42 AM [ on the run ]
last night i FINALLY got a new tire for my bike. it's a weird size tire (i got the bike when i lived in england) and i couldn't find it. finally went to a (duh, why didn't i go there first? learn from losing) bike shop and they had it. got the slime kind self-healing even. hurray. it's only been on the "to do list" since about march.

afterwards randall and i went to the store to get dinner ingredients. we'd ended up deciding on a southwest-ish flavored baked chicken with a cornmeal coating and some zuchinni-corn-onion veggies to go with it. naturally we rounded out the meal with some super-flat cornbread.

usually, i do the baking around the house.
but tonite randall made the cornbread.

randall's a better chef. he made the chicken amazing, i made the veggies, not so amazing (cooked them too long, it tasted pretty good, but the veggies were a little sog).

he made the cornbread, not so amazing.
in fact very dense, a little flat.
i should have taken the photo from the side.
he forgot the baking powder!
they never grew up. so sad for the cornbreaders.

Coined by the artist Murakami Takashi, Superflat (cornbread)describes an aesthetic (highly influenced by digital technologies and Japanese animation) characterized by the interplay of mobile, flat surfaces (such as cornbread)
