Happy hour

last night i met joanna for drinks at hangar 17. neither of us had been there before and figured we'd try it. it's pretty new, looks like a giant airplane hangar on the outside, described in reviews as "upscale dive bar" and has sacramento's "longest happy hour" from 2-7pm. so hey, why not?

we planned on meeting up there at 5:45. i got there first a few minutes early and walked in.
dive bar?
more like UPSCALE with a dive bar afterthought. i mean come on, i think the bar itself was made out of solid granite. and where was the hangar theme? from the outside so much potential. i expected it to have a warehousey feel with big swooping hangar rounded ceilings. and maybe some industrial metal all about. but there was none of that.

i think we were in their target audience range, but it didn't really feel like a place i would ever want to hang out. maybe a frat audience would want to? not quite sure. actually this guy in the mktg department of work, i bet his crowd would probably hang there. young yuppies.

but hey it was happy hour right? joanna had a ketel one martini and it cost her 7. i had a vodka tonic (house is apparently skyy) at it was 4. i also had a mango mojito for 6, which was a little too sparkly and not enough rummy. btw, am i the only one who doesn't think those prices are that happy?

would i go there again? possibly. but i don't think i'll be the suggester. if you're the inviter i'd say sure, why not meet you there. but i doubt i'd ever invite you there...

while there joanna and i talked about all sorts of stuff.
i think we both got that antsy feeling.
it's time for change...
