meet mr. brian b.
today randall and i were heading into the city for fun and shenanigans.
our first stop was brunch at the slow-club with brianB.
brian b works for sony and we'd never met in person before,
but i thought he was a really fun guy.
he told us fun stories about losing his camera watch and a borrowed aibo dog.
he also recommended the risotto with cherries and almond sauce.
and it was as delicious as he said it was.
we were all having a good time (well at least randall and i agreed we were,
i don't know what brianB's verdict was) and brunch lasted nearly 3 hours.

rose melberg - golden gate bridge
the song doesn't fit the mood necessarily, but the title does. such a lovely sad song.
fun with american.

coming of age type high school dance where the kids get all dressed up in.
"Can you believe that Jonny is taking her to the prom?"

let's move a table, okay?
after brunch we were supposed to go to cindy's house and pick her up,
but she wasn't there.
so we went to blair and bridget's house instead.
they were just on their way to get a table they saw at the store.
the store was only a few block's away, so we went with them.
on our way there, i called leslie's cellphone,
it turned out that she was right around the corner.
so we told her where we were and we all met up.
then we carried the table back to the house and cindy met us there.
we hung out for a while having cookies and tea.

milk tea makes me crazy
at 4 o'clock we all, except bridget who was helping megan move,
headed over to this bar/restaurant called the ramp.
we were supposed to meet april and jessie there,
but they weren't there when we arrived.
none of us really wanted to go to the ramp, so we decided to leave.
we went to chinatown instead.
there's a great candy store called sweetworld there,
and they sell pearl milk tea and sour candy!
i had a peanut flavored pearl milk tea,
oh how i wish i could get this in cambridge...

let me take care of you.
after sweetworld we headed to citylights bookstore.
we were waiting for scottel, he was coming into the city and meeting us,
he was also picking up bridget along the way.
when they finally caught up to us, we headed to the house of nan king.
that place is seriously the greatest.
we looked through the menus and planned out what we were going to order,
but when the owner came to take our orders he said "have you been here before?"
we said "yes, why is there something we should have?"
and he said, "how many people? 7? okay, i take care of you." and he was gone.
he came back later with several dishes, nan king chicken, stuffed mushrooms,
greens, shrimp dumplings, and so on...and so good.

candy in high places
after dinner we said goodbye to leslie and headed back to bridget/blair's house.
we were sitting around acting silly and trying to figure out what we should do,
when we noticed extremely bright searchlights/floodlights up on twin peaks.
we decided it needed an investigation. scottel wasn't up for it, and he went home.
when we got to the top, we saw it was an inverted pink triangle for gay pride festival.
but it really only looked like huge white lights.
it was really windy up there, but we hung out for a bit and ate candy.
the five of us (cindy, bridget, blair, randall and i) seem to do this sort of thing.
i guess it's the candy in high/windy places club.
sidenote: this image was digitally altered.

but can you do that standing on your head?
after eating the candy, we decided we were too cold and needed warming up.
so we went to the beuna vista for irish coffees (randall had regular since he was driving).
apparently the beuna vista is where irish coffees were invented.
and they make really good ones, but it's also really touristy.
a couple of women from texas broke into song,
while this guy from kansas demonstrated frat boy skills.
he was around 50 or so, and he stood on his hands and could drink a pint.
he did it twice to show off. but it was impressive. surreal, but impressive.
