everyone has a story.

breakfast buffet

this morning we woke up and went downstairs to the breakfast buffet.
it's been awhile since i've had some sort of warm breakfast.
so i ate up.
eggs, bacon, toast, herring, cheese, fruit, juice, milk, coffee.
you get the idea.

fun with swedish.

tack
thanks.

the a is pronounced like ah

train station fun

after breakfast we checked out of the hotel.
we were going to stockholm by train.
so we went straight to the train station.
a train was scheduled to be there in 15 minutes.
but then it was delayed and delayed and then finally cancelled.
the next one was leaving in a 2 hours.
apparently a tree had fallen and was blocking the tracks.
so we sat and read while we waited.
i've just finished "white teeth" by zadie smith.
it's all over the place, i keep seeing people reading it.
i disliked it at first, but i enjoyed the ending.
and hey, we all know that if i enjoy an ending...

sushi in stockholm

when we finally got into stockholm,
we arranged a hotel, checked in, and then walked around.
it's a rather large city grouped together by bridges.
eventually we ended up at this building full of restaurants.
we decided to have sushi at this place called "ikki".
we got the mixed set and some tempura.
the tempura was great but the sushi was just okay.
next to us were these two women.
they seemed like tourists, definite american accents.
but one of them had a mobile phone so we thought maybe she lived here.
and perhaps the other one was visiting her.
they looked like they could mother and daughter.
we weren't sure, but we wanted to know their story.
i always do that, wonder what other people's stories are.
because everyone has one.
i wodner if anyone ever wonders what mine is?

internet cafe

later this evening we made an excursion the internet cafe.
the sun sets really late here, so we didn't even realize it was 10pm.
luckily the internet cafe was open late.
randall remembered that brad's family was good friends with a family out here.
and that he had met them a few times when they visited the states.
so we decided to email brad's family to get the swedish family's telephone number.
if nothing else, he just wanted to say hi.
so we went to this internet cafe called "9".
i wondered why the few internet cafes i know of, aren't really successful at home.
