driving lessons

berry horn

big box of treats
this morning i woke up to find a big box of pastries on the counter.
not the fresh kind in the little pink boxes,
but the pre-packaged store bought kind.
i didn't know where they came from,
but i helped myself to a "berry horn" flavored one and a glass of milk.

iced mocha

i learn how to drive a stick
at around noon randall arrived.
yesterday he decided he'd come visit for a day.
we didn't really have any plans,
i had to drop off some film, and he wanted to look for star wars legos.
then we got a coffee, i had an iced mocha.
afterwards we headed back to my parent's neighborhood.
randall's been promising to teach me how to drive a stick shift,
and i decided it was time to hold him to it.
their neighborhood is only half way finished,
so there are a lot of empty streets.
it took a little while, but i guess i got the hang of it okay.
i still can't see the "more fun" factor of driving a stick.
it just seems like more work.

steak

lawnmower adventure
when we got back from the driving lesson, my mom had made dinner.
she apologized for not making chinese food,
she made steak instead.
she also made noodles, they were stir-fried a la chow mein style.
but according to her it wasn't chinese food.
after dinner my mom took randall and i on an adventure.
we had to go to someone's house and pick up a ton of lawn-garden equipment.

bowling with juju

almost a turkey
when our adventure was over randall and i called up juju.
she was just getting off of work and wanted to go out to play.
we thought bowling would be fun, so i called to see when they closed.
apparently there's a 24 hour bowling place here in sacramento.
so many times we could have gone bowling,
but instead we sit around doing nothing because well, who knew?
we got a lane next to this ghetto-ish family.
they had a little girl, probably about 3 or 4 years old.
i think she's going to grow up to be a very scary girl.

picture time

asleep in public
after bowling i announced that a root beer float would be nice.
juju agreed and so we went to lyon's across the street.
i'd never been to this one before, it was 10x nicer than the others.
it was obviously designed in the 60s or so, and has faux rock paneling inside.
and the ceilings are really tall.
i decided we should go to that one from now on instead of the other one.
while we were there i showed juju a bunch of pictures from when she was in the UK.
randall had already seen them so he decided to nap instead.
