where is he going?
this morning randall and i got up and got ready to go to the city.
randall also wanted to bring his beetle to work and leave it there.
he has to get body work done on it, and so he will drive his other car
to work on monday (he works over the hill),
so that he will have something to drive home.
on our way out i realized we hadn't really eaten anything,
so we decided we'd drop off his car and then go grab something.
but a few exits before our turnoff, randall got off the freeway.
luckily i was paying attention and followed him.
he remembered that there was a jamba juice and a coffee shop nearby.
i had a carribean passion jamba (pineapple sherbet instead of orange),
and an all-seed bagel with light cream cheese.

sucks to be that guy
when we got to the city we headed straight to chinatown.
then i realized it was a stupid move, as the parking garage was sure to be full.
so we backtracked and went to the 5th & mission garage.
then we walked up to chinatown where the streetfair was still going on.
we walked the full length of chinatown, stopping at a lot of the booths,
and ended up at my favorite sweet shop called sweetworld.
i bought a sesame pearl drink and some men's pocky (breadsticks dipped in dark chocolate).
sidenote: while we were there an accident occured in the intersection outside.

another cute kid, another lion
after the sweetshop, randall and i thought about grabbing a bite to eat.
but then randall's phone rang.
samshrew and her friends decided to come to see the parade afterall,
she also said she had a pretty good spot behind some tiny kids.
so we walked all the way back down chinatown to meet her.
minutes turned to hours and soon i realized that i was exhausted, and my day only half over.
i had no idea that the parade was that long.
and after a while, all the cute kids and dancing lions start to look the same.
so randall and i ended up leaving the parade early.
besides, we were hungry, cold, tired, and one of us was getting cranky and it wasn't me.
so we decided to grab something quick to eat (we already had to be somewhere else).
since we were parked at the 5th & mission garage, we stopped at the metreon.
and we ended up paying a lot for burritos and tortilla chips.
sidenote: we should have grabbed food first because the parade started late.
sidenote: cindy says that randall and i always go to the metreon, but i don't think we do.
sidenote: earlier in the day we saw that a jollibee was opened further down 5th,
so we should have eaten there to try it, but in our exhaustion, we forgot it was there.

this is another one of those longest days ever
after resting our feet and feeding our bellies randall and i headed into the mission.
we were going to the to-do-list magazine third issue release party.
brianb was dj-ing and had invited us to come.
but coincidentally, april and jessie were also going to be there.
so we met up, hung out, "networked" and participated in a raffle.
i won a nevada alarm clock and randall won a subscription.
he said that when he claimed his prize the girl looked at him funny like
he was a silicon valley type infilitrating the urban hip kids party.
which i imagine is how the city folk look at the country folk, only snootier.
afterwards we bid brianb bon voyage (he's jetset heading to tokyo tomorrow),
collected april and hiam and went to bridget's house for megan's birthday.
we didn't stay too long (a few hours), but we wear our fun-hater bagdes with pride
(you would leave early too if you had to drive back over highway 17 after a full day).
