an apple a day
this morning i woke up and the house was empty.
it's been a long time since i've woken up to nothing.
i went downstairs and sort of sat there.
i think today is the day it all sank in.
i am almost 24, i am unemployed and i live with my mom.
that just sounds pathetic.
for breakfast i had an apple.
at least maybe i'll keep that doctor away
(which is good since i don't have health insurance anymore either).

pocket lint
why do you call your brother bao?
it's a variation of his middle name (which is hsiao-pao and pao is pronounced "bao"
(like bow (as in take a bow) or when the bough breaks).
i don't remember who started calling him that (it might have been
samshrew) but it caught on and it's sort of fun to say.

you better thank me
after spending the better part of the afternoon cleaning the house,
i went to pick up bao from school.
while i was cleaning the house i found this certificate i had for old navy.
bao's a pretty big kid, and old navy's one of the few places where he can happily shop,
so i decided to be nice and take him there.
while there i ended up buying a pair of pajama pants and a bunch of crap for bao.
he better remember that when he has money and i don't.
when we got home it was already dinner time,
so we ate noodle soup and grilled sandwiches.
sidenote: he made me buy this stupid visor too.
that will cost him extra when he's older and has his own money.

everything tastes better with pineapple
after dinner i was cleaning the kitchen and noticed some old bananas.
they were at that stage in their life where no one wants to eat them,
but they're perfectly fine, just over-ripe and sorta mushy.
so i decided i should mash them up and make banana bread.
there was a recipe on the side of the bisquick box, so i made some.
i also sprinkled dried pineapple on the top of it.
but we didn't have a bread pan, so i used a small cake pan
(like a brownie pan or something).
the pan had been sort of small, so when it came out of the oven it was like a giant muffin.
