happy valentine's day

more donuts
this morning i woke up to another box of donuts.
i don't know why we've had so many donuts lately,
but we have.
and it's not like this is a normal thing,
my brother has even noted the abnormal number of donuts we've been having.
but today's donuts weren't your average donuts.
they were heart shaped, cherry-cake flavored, and covered in pink frosting.

my family doesn't really celebrate holidays very well.
it's more like we force ourselves to celebrate them.
as if someone's feelings would be hurt if we didn't.
so we always buy cards and candy for everyone.
and so i've been eating my share of heartshaped box candies.
i love and yet hate the ones that don't tell you what kind they are.
you reach for one, bite down and surprise!
but sometimes you get those disgusting butter rum ones or something like that,
and the surprise is more like, "ugh."
at four we went to pick up bao from school.
then they went and bought lasagna and breadsticks for dinner.
i had a few breadsticks.

can we play keno?
this evening randall drove up from sunnyvale.
we were going to go have dinner somewhere.
but we didn't know how long it would take him to get here,
so we decided not to make any reservations anywhere.
besides paying lots of money for forced romanticism is sort of stupid.
so we were going to go to denny's instead.
when we got closer to denny's i kept on driving.
i decided i hate eating at resaturants in my home town.
call it stupid, but i really don't want to accidently run into people from high school.
if i plan to run into them, it's okay, but i hate just bumping into them.
so we were going to drive to another denny's,
but on our way randall saw a peppermill and decided he wanted to go there instead.
i'd never been to one before, so i was suprised at how much it looked like a casino.
while there i had coconut something or other chicken strips and lemonade.
