this morning we got up to discover that the replay did not record fillmore. right now the replay is
full of a lot of crap (mostly good eats/the adventures of pete & pete) and doesn't have that much room
left. i've noticed that when it gets this full it doesn't like to record. i was pretty dissapointed to
discover that it wasn't recorded. it was a new episode too. so we made breakfast and sulked (well i did
anyway). i made eggs and randall made bacon. sidenote: fillmore is this fantastic
"cop drama"-esque saturday morning kid's cartoon. but it really is fantastic. and it is worth setting your
vcrs for.

the case of the marzipan cake
at around 3 we left the house and headed to los altos. grant was having a birthday party and we were invited.
but it wasn't just any birthday party, he was having a murder mystery party. my character was
named ruby robber and i was the heiress to a rubber chicken and gag joke legacy. i tried to step into
character and thought i did a pretty good job of it. i think i've missed my calling. obviously i was
born to ham it up.
everyone attending the party was asked to bring an appetizer of some
sort. so on our way to the party we stopped to buy a platter of vegetables or cheeses or something,
but we didn't really plan it so well and there wasn't anything pre-made available. so we bought our own
stuff and put it together when we got there. even though there were only 8 people attending there was
a ton of food. we all ate appetizers all night long. and then heidi tried to serve us a ham. but we
were all too full so we had to pass. eventually it was time for the birthday cake. grant is crazy
for marzipan, so it was a white cake with marzipan frosting. i'm not so sure what i think of
marzipan. sometimes i think it's tasty and other times i wonder why i'm eating a cake covered in lard.
sidenote: i won. i won. i won. i was the only one who figured out whodunnit. ha-cha!
