09.18.03 - just open up and say hello
all staff
everyone gather round
once a month we have an all staff meeting. but it's not really all staff. our department is also the home to the customer care center (aka: the telephone center). and we can't just leave the phones ringing while we have a senseless meeting. so not everyone gets to go. today they decided they would try something new. they were going to have two meetings. all the managers had to go to both and they would talk about the same things. i dunno seems an even bigger waste if you ask me. but hey i was named employee of the month. so i guess it was worth going to.
i'm sorry to hear it
people just sort of tell me things
after the meeting i went straight to the gym. it's been a while since i've gone and i decided that that needed to be remedied. heather quit going and it's been hard motivating myself. but i managed. afterwards i was starving. i didn't really eat breakfast and i was ready for lunch. i ended up going to the pot belly deli and ordering a cobb salad. i don't go to the pot belly that often. maybe once every other week. but they know my name there, so that is sort of neat. while i was waiting for my salad to be made, i decided to make nice chit chat with the girl behind the register. so i asked her how she was doing and she promptly told me about how her father back in greece was diagnosed with cancer. then she mentioned how glad she was to have her sister here with her becuase she didn't know what she'd do if she was on her own. i didn't really know what to say because i don't even know her name. and i'm not sure why, but people tend to just tell me things. i must have one of those friendly faces...

reciprocate
randall is becoming a diligent chef these days. and he is always the one making us dinner. so i decided that for a change, i would make dinner. i ended up deciding on pork chops with a balsamic vinegar sauce. and surprisingly enough, they were really tasty. after dinner i headed over to my mom's house. i was going to stay the night there so that we could leave early tomorrow.
how can you sleep
with a bear up your nose?
we're gonna stay up all nite.
today is bao's last day home. tomorrow we're driving to LA and dropping him off for college. according to sam it is tradition to keep the new college student up all night talking. apparently she did it for me and bao did it for her. now it was my turn to keep him up all night with the nervous energy that only happens when one is about to embark on a new chapter of their life. but apparently that kind of nervous energy is lost on bao. he was passed out before 11. i even tried shoving a toy bear up his nose, but that only made him temporarily angry and he rolled over and went back to sleep anyway.
