wow this looks gross.
care to share?
this morning i never wanted to get out of bed. i seem to be doing that a lot lately. sleeping in until the very last minute and then waking up and scrambling around and running late. i'm not sure why i'm doing this. i just am. at anyrate, it was too late for breakfast (funny, i think this happened on friday too), so i grabbed some stuff to make a salad for lunch. however when i got to work bao had brought in some potstickers that my mom had made. he was supposed to have them for lunch, but he went out with oscar instead. the potstickers looked more appetizing than my salad, so i had them instead. the bottoms look a bit gross, but my mom makes the best potstickers ever.

tomato soup for the soul
it's like out of a movie
after work bao and i went back to my house. he dropped me off and then stole my car so that he could go to band practice. when i got home randall was waiting there and he said he was starving. neither of us felt like cooking a big meal nor did we feel like going to the store/anywhere to get food. so we decided to make do with what we had. i bought a bunch of dill the other day and decided i would use it to make tomato soup. luckily i also had some tomatoes and i was sure i could find a recipe. all of the cookbooks called for a bunch of ingredients we didn't have. all except one that is, the betty-crocker dinner for two first edition (i think it's from the 50s). it called for tomato puree and so i decided to use the blender to puree the tomatoes. unfortunately neither randall nor i screwed the bottom onto the blender very well and halfway thru blending my solid tomatoes turned into drippy all over the counter puree.
world class cookies
cookie crash
once we had the counter cleaned off and salvaged as much of the puree as we could, our homemade tomato soup turned out pretty well. it was filling but not too filling. but all those pots and pans clanging around had put me into the cooking mood. so i decided to make cookies. i don't mean to brag, but i like to think i make a pretty good chocolate chip cookie. unfortunately the last two batches i've made haven't been all that great. tonite's attempt also fell into that category. i usually alter the recipe a bunch, but tonite i stuck with the "can't go wrong" nestle tollhouse one. i guess that was a mistake. the first batch came out small and lumpy looking, the second batch lopsided and even more lumpy. so i altered it some more and eventually they came out okay (i had forgotten a secret ingredient). but by that point i had eaten so many cookies and the sugar high was crashing fast.
