08.14.03 - meet the neighbors
this morning i had newtons
pleased to meet you
i was up pretty late last night. it was about 3:30 in the morning when i noticed my windows rattling. at first i thought it was a bunch of high school teenagers hanging out nearby. but then i realized it went on for too long, and was much closer than i thought. turns out the next door neighbor was testing out his surround sound. who tests their surround sound at 4am? and for 30 minutes? at 4 i'd had enough and went over there. i had to ring the bell 3 times before they heard it. when they finally answered the door they looked at my like i was the crazy one. HELLO. you're the one waking up the whole neighborhood. sidenote: when i was walking up to their door, their other next door neighbor's lights came on. looks like i wasn't the only one bothered by the sound...
bao and oscar
you best put that chair back
this morning started off okay, but then a totally unorganized meeting was thrown together at 10. right now we're understaffed (aka: they had some layoffs a while ago) so every minute is pretty important and no one really has time to sit in meetings. so naturally we have more meetings now than we did when we were fully-staffed. funny how that happens...oh, for the summer i got bao a job at my work (that's him on the left) his friend oscar works here too (for now).
spaghetti spin
i forget to defrost
on our way home from work bao asked me what we were having for dinner. lately he's been complaining that i never feed him (i tell him that i'm just preparing him for college). so i decided i would actually cook something today. right now there's a bunch of stuff in the freezer. problem is it needs to be defrosted during the day, so there really wasn't anything to make for dinner. eventually we decided on a pasta salad. it just came out okay. when randall got here he opted for spaghetti with a plain tomato sauce. i secretly wished i'd had that instead.

stroll down park avenue
tonite park avenue music was playing downtown, so randall and i jumped into his car and headed to the show. they were playing with run-return and the roots of orchis. it was at the espresso metro so i had a chai with espresso (my new favorite drink). it was a lovely show and i'd write more about it, but right now i'm about to fall asleep on the keyboard and i swear, those neighbors are playing surround sound games again...
